On 8 October 2024, two renowned experts in mobility research, Prof. Oliver Carsten from the University of Leeds (left) and Prof. Dr Joachim Taiber, experienced a pioneering test drive with the Wayve.AI autonomous vehicle through turbulent London traffic. ‘The relaxed tour impressively demonstrated how advanced AI technologies can master complex traffic situations - completely smoothly and comfortably,’ summarises Joachim Taiber.
This test drive took place as part of a meeting of the 'Automated Driving System - Implementation Working Group' (ADS-IWG) and the 'World Forum for Harmonisation of Vehicle Regulations' (UNECE WP.29), which deal with the future of regulation and integration of AI systems in mobility.
Prof Dr Taiber is particularly committed to sustainable and innovative transport solutions, which were also the focus here.

The opportunities for autonomous driving will be addressed from 17th-18th February 2025 at 'AI Assurance in Mobility North America'. This event will bring together innovators from the automotive industry to discuss future projects, best practices and AI assurance frameworks for mobility in one of the world's leading technology cities.
